  • The application of Grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system is becoming one of the most widely use of PV system technology. This paper presents the development of PV Grid-connected technology application in Indonesia. PV Grid Connected is considered as the most potential technology to help achieving the National Target in PV development of 800 MWp installed capacity in the next 20 years as reflected in the recently issued Presidential Decree No.5, 2006 on the 2025 National Energy Mix.

This study discusses the National PV Development Roadmap, and its goal based on the 2005-2025 National Energy Management Blueprint developed by the Government of Indonesia. Further, the paper analyses the potential of PV grid Connected technology in advancing progressively the development to achieve the target. A 10 kWp PV Grid Connected BPPT’s Pilot Project performance assessment serves as the main technical basis of the analyses.

Finally, this paper concludes that technically, the application of PV grid-connected technology in Indonesian power system is proven to be suitable. This opens the opportunity for the technology to significantly contribute to the expedited National Target in PV development.
