SolarGas One - Solar fuel for a fossil-based nation
SolarGas One will be the world's first multiple solar tower project and the world's largest solar thermochemical plant. It will use solar steam reforming of natural gas and have a nominal output of 5MWe. With storage, it will demonstrate the capability of baseload power from the sun.
The project will be built in Queensland, with funding support from the Queensland and Federal governments. It aims to have a start-up date in 2010.
This paper provides detail of the project, including predicted performance (optical and chemical) based on the data accumulated from the prototype SolarGas reactor and tower at the National Solar Energy Centre.
